Just wanted to post a quick note to let everyone know that we are now officially a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. (and there was much rejoicing) …

We also just finished the latest round of Barhoppers – 2 bars, 6 shows, and 1 grand time for all involved. Our thanks go out to all involved, and to everyone that came to see the show.

We have performances of Bug and Tape coming up in May (more info at the following links):

Bug

Tape

And we are in the midst of a community art project:

Collins Mosaic

We hope to see all of you at the play and/or the unveiling of the mosaic (or both). If you would like to get involved, have a show you want to do, or want to get involved in another way let us know. You can reach our business manager at andarts@gmail.com

We have been extremely lax in our blogging efforts, and I appologize for that. Here is a quick update on what is currently in the works with Ampersand -

Letter #1: Barhoppers is coming up in the March/April timeframe. Looks like we will be performing at our favorite home Bistro as well as adding a set of shows at the Clocktower. Cool stuff. We are currently accepting scripts – short (5-15 minutes), set in a bar … get your scripts to you local Ampersand board member or send them to andarts@gmail.com.

Thing 2: Greg is working on putting together a proposal for a couple of shows to go up in the May timeframe. Look for more info on that in the near future.

Number C: Heath, Drew and Brooks have been working on a really cool community art project idea. This has been approved, so grab one of them (or any Board Member) for more info on this project. There will be more info comin in the blog or on the website as well.

Finally: Cannibal! The Musical was delayed. We still have every intention of doing this show (perhaps this fall) if you have any interest in participating in this show (acting, music, tech, etc) contact us at andarts@gmail.com

Just wanted to pass along the photo below of the Director Jenni Kitchen making sure the horses were going to be safe for actors to use. I’ve seen the set design and be privy to some of the talk about how the show will work … it’s going to be a good one. Get involved by e-mailing andarts@gmail.com or posting a comment to the blog.

It’s official gang. Cannibal! The Musical will be happening. Audition information is as follows:

Oak Grove Theater Presents Ampersand Arts Production of Trey Parker’s Cannibal! The Musical (In Association With New Cannibal Society, CRAPtv, and Troma.com)

If you are interested in being a part of the BAND or helping with the TECHNICAL side of the show please contact us at andarts@gmail.com

August 15 – 6:00PM
August 16 – 4:00PM
August 17 – 2:00PM

I just wanted to provide a quick update on Cannibal. Jenni, Chris and I met last Thursday to begin talking about how to adapt the script. I have also heard that the movie is now available to watch streaming through NetFlix – if you haven’t checked it out yet, and have NetFlix, this might be a good way to get an idea about we are going to be doing.

You can also check out some of the groups that have done this show in the past (as well as posters and pics from their productions) here:

Cannibal! The Musical Stage Play

We should be listed on their site in the near future.

The show is scheduled for October (casting in August), and we are awaiting final confirmation on the space. If you are interested in helping out, auditioning, or anything of the like drop us a line at andarts@gmail.com or leave us a comment.

Hello World!

(I picture you all saying back, Hello Ampersand!)

After the last board meeting we can confirm that Ampersand is a go for Cannibal the Musical. We will be adapting the script from the film written by Trey Parker (once we obtain the rights shortly). For those of you that haven’t seen it, it is a very funny and irreverent comedy based on the story of Alfred Packer.

The show will be in the fall, but we are already looking for actors, musicians, singers and non-singers – back stage, technical, really help of any kind.

If you have an interest contact your local Ampersand Arts board member, or e-mail us at andarts@gmail.com.

More details will be coming once we have them.

For anyone that may be interested we now have Ampersand T-shirts for sale. They are black shirts with the white Ampersand logo. I’ll update this post with pictures as soon as I can. If you were at Staunton Jams this past Saturday you most likely saw someone in one of them.

The price of the shirt is $5.00 and we they can be had in sizes from Small to X-Large. Please contact an Ampersand Board Member if you would like to purchase one.

If you are interested in other Ampersand Merchandise you can check out the Cafe Press store here:
